There have been some queries about the Nest 7 live stream on You Tube. There are a number of challenges this year, not least the overrunning refurbishment of Kielder Castle which has been the hub for streams. We will update as soon as possible, but we have no date for streaming on the web at present.
As far as we can tell there are no further osprey arrivals in Kielder Forest. Usually only two or three breeding birds return here in March and adverse weather conditions along the usual migration route are probably delaying many UK bound ospreys.
KX7 has not been on her nest often. On Saturday she did spend much of the day preening and ‘nestorising’, but she has reduced her presence since then. Here’s a shot of the longest stick she brought on Saturday!

(c) Kielder
She was on the nest early on Sunday, but a pair of carrion crows were annoying her and she left the nest before 08.00.

(c) Kielder
She was only seen once more on the nestcam – a brief appearance at 13.00. Today she was present most of the time from about 10.30 until 13.30.

(c) Kielder
She landed briefly on Nest 1A on Saturday, but although she is likely to have checked nests for any occupants she hasn’t been on any with cameras.
From previous records KF13 from Nest 1A is the likeliest next arrival, but who knows?!

How nice to have several views of the KX7 and her nest. I hope she has company soon. Tut, adverse weather conditions along the usual migration route was last year wasn’t it . Not a good Osprey year. I’m declaring a much better Osprey year for Kielder in 2026. The UK has been blessed with several consecutive days of sun and calm and I was so hoping this was true of the weather along the migration route. Thank you for a lovely Blog Joanna.
