Laddie gone, Iris has a new guy…Thursday in Bird World

Good Morning Everyone,

Today’s post is going to be extra short. I have been absolutely fall down ill all day Wednesday. It isn’t nice. A stomach bug must be making the rounds so please take care of yourselves!

Cats are great…and the garden birds and animals. Images in a few days. Hugo Yugo has been caring for me. :)))

‘H’ reports that there is a second egg at Severna Park.

Sadly, dear Middle died at the University of Florida-Gainesville nest of Stella on the 30th, very late. The little Bob had succumbed to siblicide only a couple of days prior. We will see if Stella can provide enough fish for herself and Big so it survives.

The two osplets and Dad, Talon, are now on the Memorial Wall.

The trio that fledged in 2022 was Mrs G and Aran’s last clutch together. Mrs G did not return from migration in 2023 and Aran bonded with Elen. Good news that one of that clutch has returned in his second year!

Jack has joined the club of dads that feed their chicks at Achieva.

If you missed it, Archie is in that ‘Dad Feeds the Kids Club’, too.

As I write this, there is pipping going on for Monty and Hartley. No doubt tomorrow there will be a hatch on Thursday.

There have been no fish deliveries for Blue NCO and she is going to have to eat soon – she cannot make it. This brings my fears for Laddie LM12’s survival to a new high. It has been several days now.

Geemeff sent me an update. Laddie will go on the Memorial Wall and there will be no staring chicks this year.

At Loch Arkaig, Louis is diligent in his providing for Loch Arkaig.

It has been a different year at Cornell – Big Red injured and four eggs. Two of those have hatched and it appears that N1 and N2 will be the only hashes this year. That is just fine. It will be easier for the parents!

At the nest of Iris in Missoula, my source tells me that Louis was last seen on the 27th of April. Iris and the new male have had at least one successful mating on 1 May and perhaps others. He continues to bring her fish! And both are defending what appears to be ‘their’ territory.

Everything is OK at Moorings Park.

One of the eaglets at Sauces has fallen out of the nest and is clinging to its side. Parent has tried to feed the eaglet. Gracie Shepherd told me that the nest is on Navy Property when I asked if the IWS would rescue. There is a comment by the IWS that gives me hope. Yeah, Dr Sharpe to the rescue.

Frenchman’s Creek is gradually becoming a nest of fish bones.

I am still quite sick this morning, but I want to end with some positive notes. The Bald Canyon chick continues to hold on and I hope that the IWS is there to save it today. And ‘T’ writes that we now have a signal from Waba, one of Karl II’s chicks. He is alive and in Egypt!!!!!!!!!
