4. F23, Bald Eagle. Mate to M15 at the SW Florida Bald Eagle Nest, Fort Myers, Florida. DOD: 27 February 2026. COD: Shot.
5. Rosie, Osprey. Mate to Richmond at the Golden Gate Audubon Whirley Crane, San Francisco Bay, California, USA. DOD: Unknown. COD: Unknown. Rosie did not return from migration.
“For nine golden years, Rosie partnered with Richmond to raise 19 chicks to adulthood. Always wise, the perfect foil to Richmond’s occasional goofiness, Rosie was clever enough to catch a Plainfin Midshipman in just 36 seconds on/off the nest. Willing to take up the feeding slack caused by Richmond’s talon injury, Rosie would occasionally catch such large striped bass that they would feed the family over a full day. She was the best mom, always making sure her nestlings were full before polishing off Richmond’s fish deliveries herself, and going out to get fish when Richmond’s talon injury reduced his abilities in 2022. She was funny, fierce, steadfast, and beloved. She will be missed.”
