Good Morning Everyone,
Oh, it is going to be an exciting weekend.
Ron and Rose are getting ready to be parents again! Pip was called at the WRDC nest at 0835 and we have a hatch at 1016 Eastern. Heidi has the dates of the eggs so we will see if it is 1 or 2 in a little bit if the other doesn’t hatch – or if it does! 38.82 days for Egg 1 and 35.67 days for Egg 2. There are two storm fronts moving through the area. As I write this at 10:38 CDT.
Rose and Ron will keep this baby snug in any bad weather. Welcome little one. You have fantastic parents.

Heidi says that there is a crack now – as I am writing this. Looks like there will be a bobblehead Saturday morning!

Well, it is the day I have been waiting for – we are on pip watch as I write this for Beau and Gabby. My only thoughts are – it is been awhile since Gabby was a Mum and she must be excited and I really hope that Beau takes good care of his family.
Gabby has shown signs on Friday that she hears her babies. She is being very vigilant.

Saturday morning and eyes are on the eggs.

Gabby went to the LOP and then flew off.

There are many helping the people in the area of the wildfires as best they can. Pets have been left as people fled. Wildlife has been killed. My thoughts are with the wildlife and their homes that are being destroyed by fire. What a horrible situation this is and it is predicted that the instances of fire will continue to get worse over the coming decades.

Jackie and Shadow were at their nest. Big Bear Valley is offering housing for those impacted by the fires. Jackie and Shadow are not in danger.

The first egg has been laid at the Pine Island Osprey platform.

It was a gorgeous Friday morning at the Eagle Country nest of Skye and Blaze. The couple were working on their nest before the sun came up.

There are still a pair of illegally introduced lynx running wild in the Cairngorms in Scotland. So what’s up with the lynx? Gosh aren’t they beautiful!
The second pair have been sighted and they are now captured. Let’s hope that they can capture them. These are not wild animals like you might think. They were captive-bred and are in real jeopardy.

There are many fears about this preemptive illegal rewilding in the Cairngorms.
Fears of ‘rogue rewilding’ in Scottish Highlands after further lynx sightings. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jan/10/fears-of-rogue-rewilding-in-scottish-highlands-after-further-lynx-sightings?CMP=share_btn_url
A young eagle visits the nest of Milda and Zorro and it has a Latvian ring! This excites me. These beautiful eagles are so rare in this region. https://youtu.be/j-PZrIDWL7U?

At Port Lincoln, Kasse cleaned up on the fish delivery first before Wilko had a chance to challenge. And then she got the breakfast fish from Dad. Smart girl. I do hope Wilko gets some food or is off catching Puffers with big brothers Bradley, Giliath, and Ervie!

Some of you will remember the little Boo Book Owls that would fly down and hit the Es on the Olympic Park Sea Eagle nest.

To close, a cute little beaver working hard. We look to them to create natural wetlands and to help us restore the landscapes so that our birds and other wildlife can survive.

Thank you so much for being with us today. Congratulations to Ron and Rose and here’s hoping all is well at NE Florida. Take care. See you soon.
