I was too quick on the rewind. The third hatch at Lake Murray did get some fish this morning after the two big siblings ate. A few bites. I was surprised that it did not get right up there and let Mum fed it all the fish.
He’s not too clever. The others were facing the opposite direction obviously full and Mum offered bites and sometimes Peanut’s back was turned. he needs lots of fish…eat Peanut.
I went to the UK as a Commonwealth Scholar in 1990 and received my PhD from the University of Leicester in 1993. After three decades of university teaching, I retired to devote my time to the study of raptor behaviour. I am particularly interested in Ospreys and am working on a long term project on third hatch survival and siblicide in these raptors. My blog is a result of a fascination with my local wildlife and the desire to encourage others to love and care for birds! I live on the Canadian Prairies and prior to the pandemic travelled a lot. I am questioning the use of aviation fuel at the moment as we all strive to help our planet. My early research was in politics and art including British public statues exported to Southeast Asia and Vietnam Resistors that contributed much to Canadian ceramics. Books and articles were published on those subjects over a period of 3 decades. Now I am working on books for children so they can learn about the challenges our raptors face.

No worries, Akane. This is always such a sad nest and this year it was doubly so with the loss of Obey – then DH19 and then the third blow with the death of DH18. I am glad that DH17 survived and that both of the tangled eaglets did not die but it makes me angry when humans do not get the legal help required immediately!
I have hesitated to watch there since sometimes in the past the little ones didn’t make it. Prayers for little Peanut 🙏💕
I think that will be the same this year, Linda, sadly.
Same as #3 in Dale Hollow last year. It’s a brutal way to kill…I can only hope he passes quickly so he doesn’t suffer too long 😭
I wrote two in error. Please delete one or the other. Thank you very much.

Same as last year’s Dale Hollow #3. Cruel….I just pray he doesn’t suffer too long 😭.
