The folks at the Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue observed Meadow on the ground and Meadow has now been rescued!
Thank you to ‘H’ for alerting me and to everyone who cared for this beautiful second hatch of Abby and Blaze that got blown off the nest two days ago. This is the best ending we could hope for – other than Meadow being able to get back to its nest.
I went to the UK as a Commonwealth Scholar in 1990 and received my PhD from the University of Leicester in 1993. After three decades of university teaching, I retired to devote my time to the study of raptor behaviour. I am particularly interested in Ospreys and am working on a long term project on third hatch survival and siblicide in these raptors. My blog is a result of a fascination with my local wildlife and the desire to encourage others to love and care for birds! I live on the Canadian Prairies and prior to the pandemic travelled a lot. I am questioning the use of aviation fuel at the moment as we all strive to help our planet. My early research was in politics and art including British public statues exported to Southeast Asia and Vietnam Resistors that contributed much to Canadian ceramics. Books and articles were published on those subjects over a period of 3 decades. Now I am working on books for children so they can learn about the challenges our raptors face.

What awesome news!!! I’ve been so worried about sweet Meadow, hopefully everything is good and will be returned to the nest if thats an option. I wish there was good news at Moorings Park. After the youngest getting such a good feeding yesterday evening I’d become hopeful but this morning is off to a terrible start. Tuffy wasn’t able to eat breakfast and has had one beat down after the other. Sending prayers 🙏 to the little one.
It sounds like Meadow is going to get the Gold Star treatment down at Audubon. So happy for this little one. Do you remember when we thought Swampy might not let it eat?
Isn’t it wonderful?! Some nests and platform owners are excellent and Eagle Country sure gets a loud round of applause as does the Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue!
Tears of Joy & happiness for her/him..Hopefully reunited with the family soon
OMG!!! Iris is back home at Hellgate Osprey cam (Missoula, Mn) as of 6:53:45 am this morning ..Love her
I think the world breathed a sigh of relief and there was a loud round of applause for our dear Matriarch!
