Yesterday, it was reported that a male Osprey was killed by juveniles at Boedecker Lake in Colorado. The juveniles have been arrested and they will face charges. There was one chick in the nest along with the mom. This event will have tragic implications for the family. The female will need to remain with the juvenile and feed it while she also readies herself for migration. So sad.
This response is very different than when the two men sent to replace two lightbulbs at a park euthanized two Osprey – of course, they didn’t say how – instead of placing them in suitable containers til the bulbs were fitted. This incident should be examined further.
Take care everyone. Keep our Osprey safe.
