Annie and Lou have a hatch!

10 April 2023

Head over to Cal Falcons right now. The first hatch of the 2023 season for Annie and Lou is just about out of its shell! These are from 15:37:21.

Annie is moving about and getting the shell off the little one. Congratulations Annie and Lou and all at Cal Falcons!

Thanks Cal Falcons for the streaming cam where I took these screen captures.

Congratulations Annie and Lou. Great news. And it was such a quick hatch! At 13:44 we get a zoom-in on the four eggs, one of which has a small hole in it, through which the little egg tooth can be seen working away. By the time stamp you mention, the little one is well and truly out of its shell – and we actually can see it poking out, damp, from under mum as early as 15:21:20. Checking this nest was the first thing I did when I woke up in Australia four hours ago! Great timing. Riveting watching. And does it suggest one of the earlier eggs may have hatched, as this is right at the beginning of the hatch window? If so, we get three or even four hatches this season. Wow! Talons crossed for this gorgeous couple.

    1. That was some strong little eaglet wasn’t it! Wow. Blink and you would have missed it. The second must have done pretty well. A few cracks when I went outside and a hatch when I got in! Looking good.
