Late Monday Additions in Bird World

25 March 2024

Hi there,

There are some late Monday additions in Bird World that you should know about.

Pa and Missey of Berry College welcomed B17, the first hatch of their second clutch, Monday morning.

Mr North and Mrs DNF now have two chicks in their snowy nest in Decorah, Iowa.

Blue 022 touched down in Poole Harbour early Monday morning (0540). Tim Mackrill notes that he arrived on the 26th of March 2023 and counting Leap Year, he arrived back on the same day this year. Come on CJ7!

Little Jersey is still alive. Mum has tried to pull anything out of the nest to feed her eaglets. Leaper continues to halt Jersey from eating but the little one is finding a scrap or two.

I have always said that good nests can turn on a dime…it happens so quickly. Please send this nest your most positive energy. Let’s hope that Mum can get lots of prey items in that nest – or scatter bits and bobs around for Jersey!

Thank you to Geemeff, Poole Harbour, Duke Farms, Raptor Resource Project/Explore.org, and Berry College.

Many prayers have been coming from me to jersey to hang on and fight…find those scraps to eat…I realize that the bonking does exist in all nests, some mild, some vicious..I always hope & pray for a good outcome and for the Mom / Dad to sit on the eaglets as a deterrence for the vicious bonking..Nature is nature

Thanks for these updates Mary Ann. Praying little Jersey gets enough food 🙏💕
Congratulations to the new hatches and welcome home to the Osprey Blue022!
Prayers for all who need them

    1. Life on the Duke Farms nest turned around this morning, Tuesday. And Little Jersey was doing a good job self-feeding and Mum also fed. It was beautiful.
