It was not my intention to post any information today, so this will posting will include only one big announcement.
It is with the deepest sadness that I write this evening. At 1956, a Bald Eagle predated Miles and Hennies’ precious first hatch of 2026, CH1, at the Cape Henlopen State Park Osprey platform in Lewes, Delaware. This nest is the heartbeat of our dear Heidi, who set up a FB group and loved this family so much. She even gave them their names, as she did to the osprey pair, Della and Warren. I know that she is struggling tonight. She worried about the Bald Eagles there as well as at other sites that she monitors. Please send Heidi positive energy. This has been a very difficult year, but this predation will make a hole in Heidi’s heart.
CH1 was fully feathered and hatched on 9 June and was really ready to fledge had it not missed days without food.

The other two osplets at this nest perished on 2 July from a weather event (CH2) and CH3 from siblicide on 25 June.
