Hi Everyone,
We hope that you are going to have a fantastic weekend with some time outdoors!
Gosh. It was 0 C when we woke up Friday morning, but the house did not feel that way. The Boyfriend and two Crows, sitting on the fence, were patiently waiting for breakfast. Calico and Hugo Yugo, on the other hand, were eager to have their dishes filled! Missey and Baby Hope are never a bother at meal time. By 1600, it was 8 C – gorgeous! Those temperatures are to be treasured.
We have replaced the fall wreath on the door with an evergreen one with pine cones, and today, we will have a curry birthday dinner for my ‘bestie’ who believed, after losing her husband suddenly, that she would not have a birthday this year. (It turned out grand.) The solar lights were wrapped around the fence this morning, hoping to glow bright this evening. Meanwhile, two Blue Jays, two Crows, and a host of Starlings and Sparrows are filling up on seed and suet as I write..
And now it is Saturday and it is Calico’s 2nd birthday. She is so precious to me. We just finished the book about the seals. I wonder if she will like the one about the raptors? We will fine out tomorrow. Photos to follow!
So, let’s jump into the birds and see what is happening in Australia. The news is still what is happening with the sea eaglets. The falcon chicks are simply eating machines, changing before our very eyes from soft little white feathered chicks to ones with black around their eyes and wings peering out along with tails. At Port Lincoln, the two osplets are getting feathers and Dad, to the wonder of all, has been very good at delivering fish this year. Bubba, the Only Bob, at Growing Home appears to be fully feathered and is already working the muscles in its wings for that first flight – still a ways to go til we are there, thankfully. It is all good.

Fran Solly reports on that little White-tail eaglet that hatched. Just look at Lukin now. Fledge is any day. Lukin is 76 days old today.

Gabby was at the nest tree. Beau might have been there, too (he has been lately), but we cannot see from the cam position. I could not see any eagles at the nest as of 1515 Friday afternoon.
Only turtle shells so far today at the Kistachie National Forest E-1 nest (1530).
